Her Story App Reviews

Pretty creepy but lots of fun to figure out

Hours of play to solve it. Videos play where you have to piece the puzzle together. Best game Ive bought and played so far. Worth the money

Not Worth It

The title says it all. I dont write reviews (this is my first ever), and I am compelled to share that in spite of the "innovation" or "edge" this "game" may tempt you with, it ultimately does little more than intrigue the user until interest is lost. The acting is subpar, at best. Of course with Leo Dicap winning a GG for his miscast performance in the travesty that is "The Revenant", I am not sure most people will even see how blatantly thespian (and thus bland, since we aint watching a play) her acting is... Its moot though, cause if this were $.99 then Id say, buy it, but at the price its been at, trust me, you may as well find some fulfillment figuring out some answer or getting some concrete sign of progress in an equally interesting game that does not purport to be unique and not feel shafted out of the small fortune which is the cost of Her Story. Honestly, it gets old REAL FAST.

Brilliant and refreshing

Not through the game yet, but its just a wonderful piece of work. From the music to the UI to the mystery being pieced together to the acting, its fantastically done. Please people, buy this game and support great work like this. Update: Glad to see this team got on a lot of best games of the year lists. Congrats!

Save your money & watch for free.

Its a cool experience but I definitely wouldnt consider it a game. All youre doing is watching interrogation videos and searching for keywords in a database. Theres nothing to "solve" as theres no real outcome to it. Youre better off just watching the videos on YouTube for free. And theyre in order so its much less confusing!

Great unique game / experience

My bf and I played this over the weekend, we took turn taking notes and searching the app. Keep in mind that this is not your conventional game. In a way Id say this was the best movie Ive ever played. It is morbid, well written, nicely executed, and leaves you asking questions. I cant stop thinking about it. Id love to see more games in this format!

Fun challenge!

This was the first game of this type that I have played. It was a fun challenge! It was all the fun of watching a good procedural plus the challenge of discovery.

Unique and Captivating Game

A very unique and captivating game unlike any other Ive ever played on a mobile platform. I actually ended up playing through the entire story in one sitting. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the replay value is relatively low once you play though it once and figure out the story.

Great experience!

Enjoyed trying to unravel the mystery, and even untangle my own goals in the whole thing. Its not perfect (especially the mechanic for ending), but immersive and gripping, and likely to appeal to those who dont normally play video games. Fun framing device of an old computer console gives pangs of nostalgia to some...

Unique

I made a note quite a while back to download this game when I could and I finally did just yesterday. The game itself is rather short but the experience, the uniqueness, it was worth it. Genuinely, and unsurprisingly, Ive never played a game quite like this. I kept getting further and further into the rabbit hole and it was exhilarating! I wanted to know more and keep going. I felt like I was really putting together a puzzle, and it was incredibly satisfying. +++ for the music, mood, story

Why it cant rotate?

I cant rotate the app ,it always takes the right side down , which is the worst side

Worthless

Dont get from fooled by all media hype, this "game" is the reason why FMV games failed in the first place. The only interaction you will see here is typing words and checking how many videos you have left until you have "enjoyed" the whole movie. If you are ever tempted, do yourself a favor and go watch a short film, because that is all you are going to get from here. The only thing that was neat was the screen filter, but thats it.

Game doesnt rotate

Playing on iPad pro with the smart keyboard, and the game only plays upside down. Makes no sense that the game can only be played in one orientation.

I like it but one thing

In the game there is this reflection of a face on the "computer screen" of the game and the deeper u get into the game the more the face shows and idk why but it scares the crap outta me. Plz get rid of the face lol

Really engrossing

Never mind whether this is really a "game" in the strictest sense. I was absolutely taken in. I was visiting someone while I was in the middle of it, and I had to get on their wifi to keep trying to get those last bits. Amazing concept.

People Are Cheapskates

Yeah yeah, Her Story is great--deeply engrossing, just vague enough to keep you wondering, and all that--but some reviewers here are being ridiculous. Five dollars is not expensive! Those five dollars gets you a couple hours worth of mystery to sift through, which is more than reasonable. Lets be real: a sale would only take off a few bucks, which is really inconsequential if you actually think about it. Plus, by the time a sale rolls around--IF one does--youll likely have forgotten all about it, and thus missed out on a truly unique experience.

Not worth the price

I thought it would be better than it was. It also seemed very short and I felt it cost wayyyy more than it should. I really wish I hadnt bought it and hadnt listened to the reviews that seemed to think that this was a great game. It seemed boring to me. I might have been okay if it was maybe $0.99 but at $4.99 its a bit of a ripoff and I love these kind of games....Just my opinion.

I love it

I have this for my PC and I love it there and I just got this version and its still the same and I love the style of mint. I understand why it was #2 indie game of 2015

Refreshing.

So good to see an original game for a change. It would be great to see Chromecast/Apple TV integration. Being able to use the phone as a keyboard/input and watch the TV as a monitor would be outstanding.

Lazy Developer

All I asked for was the option for the game to be compatible with flipping screen sides. Nope. Cant be bothered. If youre left-handed and thats your preference; tough cookies. For all the praise that this game has received for its supposed originality, its lamentable that the developer is so busy gloating that he wont listen to simple requests from customers that have paid him their money for his game.

What an adventure!

Ive been waiting for mobile games to branch out into more media-focused interactive tales. This is like watching a great crime drama but, unlike TV, you actually have to think a bit :) I loved it and would recommend it to anyone in games or who likes a good mystery.
